OK I know Debra Messing was in more than one episode, because Jerry was "waiting out" her marriage. Can anybody tell me what the name of her character was? Somebody here at worked mentioned her, and now it's killing me that I can't remember....

Is it common for women to automatickly take their husband's name when they get married. I thought They had the choice.

In Quebec (where I am) this practice is long gone, over 20 years ago. I got married last year and was never asked by the Quebec gvt to change my papers or anything.

I don't think the "gov't" changes anyones name. If a woman wants to adopt her husbands name, I thik it's up to her to notify the gov't, DMV, banks and etc.
