It doesn't make sense!!! (Jerry's Mac)

This is kind of related to the thread, it's about an ad that Apple ran in the Wall Street Journal (or similar paper) the day Windoze 95 came out. It was a full center spread of the paper and the only text was: C:/ONGRTLNS.W95

It was hilarious! Anyone else see it?!

Well, it's entirely possible that Jerry bought Win95, not aware that it would not run on his Duo. I mention this because I have long harbored the suspicion that Jerry is computer-illiterate. Notice that the computer is never used! Wouldn't it be funny if there was an episode where Jerry revealed that he had never turned it on, and just bought it because he thought he needed it, but never discovered this supposed need?

Then again, it could have been SoftWindows95.

Actually the computer has been used in one episode. I think it was right after the computer took a flying leep through the window with the air conditioner the Kramer had installed, that was the only time that he ever used it on the show. But when you think about it, it would be quite boring to look at Jerry when he is working on his computer... The windows95 box, is probably there because of NBC's relationship with Microsoft...

And for crying out loud ITS A TV SHOW......

They showed the "Can't Spare a Square" epsiode tonite in syndication. This is the one in which Elaine gets into an argument with Jerry's girlfriend over a measly square of toilet paper. This is also the episode where George and Kramer go rock-climbing with Elaine's "mimbo" boyfriend (played by Dan Cortest of MTV Sports fame) and he is badly injured.

Anyway, early in the episode, Kramer enters Jerry's apartment and, LO AND BEHOLD, Jerry is working on his computer! From the looks of it, it is a Mac LC (I used to have one and am familiar with its looks). Later in the show, George is sitting in the chair telling Elaine how 'cool' her boyfriend is. In the background, Jerry is again working at his computer. So that's twice in one episode!

He was using it either yesterday (Tuesday) or over the weekend on the syndicated episodes. It was kinda wierd seeing him using it ;^)

Actually, Jerry has used it at least once. In last night's syndicated episode (the "mimbo"/"spare a square" episode) you can see Jerry sitting in front of it while Elaine and George are talking in the foreground. When he gets up to talk to them, you can see some kind of graph on the screen, suggesting he was using a spreadsheet program. BTW, a month or so ago, someone mentioned that the reason Macs are so prevalent on TV shows is that the screens don't flicker when filmed; this isn't true. Jerry's Mac was flickering quite clearly.

Actually the episode that was on in syndication last night broadcast on Fox 39 from somewhere in New York State, showed Jerry using the computer. He was in the middle of a converstation and he would keep getting up from the desk to talk. I don't know the name of the episode but it was the one with Elaine dating the mimbo who fell off a cliff because of George and Kramer. It also featured the classic line "I can't spear a square. I haven't got a square to spare." In fact this is the only time I've ever seen the computer turned on.

I seem to remember this because at the time I thought, "Hey! Jerry's using his computer!"
