Does anyone else miss the stand-up intro?

God, the stand-up bits are truly awful.

After watching this show for years, I have come to the painful conclusion that Mr. Seinfeld is nowhere near as talented as his co-stars. And he's engaging, but not really that funny.

Elaine, George, and Kramer on the other hand are truly gifted comic actors.

Actually, and I'm probably alone on this one, I DO miss those opening stand-up pieces---certainly not because they had me LOL or anything (I'd say that was rare, if ever!)---but it was a big part of the main concept of the show---how Jerry would take snippets from his everyday life and form his routine around them. The opening monologue kinda gave you an idea of what the show was going to be about, or at least you THOUGHT you had an idea---sometimes they would manipulate you into thinking it was going one way when actually it went another! I enjoyed the "challenge" of guessing the show's topic from the monologue! (Weird, huh---but then again, I watch JEOPARDY everyday too!!)

The closing bit usually had one final zinger at whomever had done WHATever in the episode that night. Even if it wasn't hilarious, it kinda summed up the whole thing, one last definitive statement.

After watching the repeats I have come to the conclusion that Sienfeld as a stand up comedian ain't funny!! I would rather have more show--which is funny--instead of his lame stand up yuks.

I don't miss the stand-ups at all! Those were never funny. Well, maybe just one where I actually LOL. But it was never as good as the actual show itself.

Peronally I think that the Stand up intro and outro were great, on the older episodes they would throw them right into the middle as well. Ihave forgotten what episode it was on now, maybe the Charles Groedin one , but Jerry mentioned something about not getting anytime alone to write any new material. This has come up a couple of times on the show, and I was thinking this was probably why they don't do any any more, he's dry.

I'm glad they've passed on the stand-up bits.. I never really minded them, but I'm impressed by the new surrealness that seems to have hit the writers (did Larry David leave the show?)
