Alright, I know this is a very bad way to go about finding the answer to a rumor, because I'm going to start a rumor by asking the question (and a rumor I hope it is).
Last night before the show came on, my French roommate was pretty adamant about Kramer being fired from the show or that he has some sort of lawsuit pending with the producers. Details are fuzzy - I apologize - but here's what he gave me, and though he's from France, and he's only watched Seinfeld with the rest of our house a couple of times, his words seemed clear:
He knows the other five of us in the house are religious fans, so when he was flipping through channels in the morning/afternoon (?), and he saw Michael Richards (in a French accent, "the guy who comes through the door all the time.") on Montell Williams ("the bald, black guy"), he stopped to watch. What he gathered is that Michael Richards was sueing because he was fired before the season finished - probably the duration of his contract.
What doesn't make any sense to me is 1) Why would Richards be on Montell? 2) Why would he be fired after winning an Emmy? 3) Why hasn't anyone been discussing this in the news or on the Net? After all, isn't it the #1 show in the country?
I don't know. If Kramer goes, the show goes. I hope I just fell victim to some sort of French senility. Somebody set me straight.
By the by, does anyone watch Frasier? I can't bear to watch it for
one reason: Continuity. Does anyone remember Frasier talking about his
father on a Cheers episode? In one show, he tells a heartfelt story about
how his father was a psychologist/psychiatrist and he always wanted his
son to follow in his steps, but he died before he could see him get his
degree. He then says "it's sort of funny" and Woody busts out laughing.
And Frasier says "no Woody, I mean funny in an ironic sort of way", and
Woody laughs harder saying "I know, those get me every time."
So you see, somebody wasn't paying as close attention as this Thursday
night TV addict. Frasier's dad shouldn't be a retired cop, let alone be
alive. Bad, bad, bad.
