I saw Michael Richards on TV the other day doing stand-up, and he was basically doing it as Kramer. I wondered, did he do stand-up prior to Seinfeld? If so, was this always his stand-up persona or has he started doing it since Seinfeld because people expect him to be that way?

I read that he used to do stand-up at the improv in LA. One of his routines was him "forgeting" his act and then trying to read off some cards and that was it.
