Am I the only one that thinks this show was less than wonderful? I did like Boomhauer's tiger striped bikinis though. Guess I'm too old to appreciate the finer qualities of GreenDay. I'm past the Gen-X generation and into the Gen-X-lax generation. (VBG)

Well, I enjoyed it, but I find the family is acting too normal to be really funny. Plus, as much as I like Hank, he's not extremely funny by himself and he was front and centre during this episode.

Celebs add an air of "Hollywood cool" to the program. Its a fun thing for viewers to try to figure out who does the voices in some shows.Such notable examples... Anyone who calls Frasier (there have been hundreds) Letterman as Beavis & Butthead's Dads. Just about any "other" character on the Simpsons. And ESPECIALLY George Clooney, as Sparky the Gay Dog in South Park.
Its fun, and it helps promote the show.... and they take scale for the voice work.

Jake, I agree with the examples you used. ALL of THOSE guys have FAMOUS voices.
Who knew what the voices of the guys in Green Day sound like? That's the point. There's no way to "figure out who's doing the voices." If you didn't know it was GD, you'd never suspect a thing. When it's a well-known celebrity voice and you fail to pick it out, you slap yourself on the forehead when you find out who it was.
That's the whole point. They don't want to be Green Day. What they
want to be is an annoying garage band, which in this episode they

I thought that part was funny, too! When Dale was bursting into tears and was chickened out! It was also funny how Bill kept talking about "Life Insurance"! The best part was Green Day's appearance! It was also cool how Peggy gave Hank that pep talk!
I liked the name of the group, Cane and the Stubborn Stains!

I think the point of this show was to portray the uglier side of inter-generational hostility and badmouthing. To me, it hit a little too close to home to be much 'fun'. The opening scene showed the foursome ragging on an elderly neighbor for little reason (what, nobody's ever seen a cranky elderly person?)
The hostility of the punks toward Hank, et al seemed to be fairly poetic justice coming just three minutes or so into the show after abusing 'pops'.
I did like the caraderie of baby boomers joining with an oldster to burn a bag of dog shit on the band's front steps....
And those kids played contemptible assholes deserving a really good ass kicking, too close to real life to be fun IMO. Too bad that sneering contempt seems to be the main emotion associated by baby boomers with the under-20 set.
