=o= I recommend "Daria" quite heartily. It's one of the heirs of the Simpsons legacy (animation with *intelligent* writing).
=o= I disagree. I have to admit that I was initially turned off
by the crude animation (which is less appealing than the crude
animation of the early Simpsons shorts), but it has a subtlety
and charm that grow on you. And again, really intelligent

Be advised that the newly released home video cassette with the first three episodes -- "Esteemsters,""The Invitation," and "College Bored," -- also contains the never-aired-but-only-test-marketed black-and-white pilot episode, "Sealed with a Kick." You should check out Planet Daria for more info.
I'm not sure I can face new episodes of Daria, anyway. I still haven't entirely gotten over the trauma of "The Road Worrier." One more episode like that and I'll wind up as filler on Sick Sad World. (Well, how would you like it if someone laid bare your innermost dreams and fears and anxieties in the form of a cartoon on MTV?)
On the basis of the sort of lame and clueless discussion that's cropped up on the Daria message board, I'm just as happy not to have a Daria newsgroup. You know what Daria thinks of a bunch of people staring at computer screens and calling it "building a community." It's very dispiriting. Check out Planet Daria for a link to the message board.

The new season of "Daria" is beginning in February. The TV HOST from a couple weeks ago had some information on it; I wish I'd kept it... but some of the upcoming plots that I remember are Daria's class going on a field trip to play paintball; the family attending a family wedding; and Daria contracting a mystery disease.
Oh, and before someone else can say it, let me: "THIS IS THE SIMPSONS NEWSGROUP YOU FUCKING IDIOT NOT THE DARIA NEWSGROUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" There, beat you to the punch.
Daria is an okay show. I've heard they're going to have new episodes maybe in March.
I'll bet one day there's going to be an episode about a school bully who wants to fight with Daria. It seems as though ALL sitcoms have to have bully plots. :)
