McGuire's hit worth it

Please don't flame me -- read first.

1) I just came home from work and found out that I botched my VCR (give me a break, I have 2 VCRs and a TV on the same cable circuit, sometimes one interferes with the other). Anyways, I just about cried, until I noticed that the baseball game was on. At least this give me a chance at KOTH redemption. I can wait one week better than months for re-runs. Reading about it on this ng also wouldn't be the same.

2) I did get to see Mac's hit. Flame me if you wish, but flesh-and-blood history... Well, it was a beautiful thing. 37 years for a hitting record, versus 1 week for a fictional TV show - and remember patience is still a virtue.

well come on people, They cut the tuesday night line up to show 1 man (maybe 2) they could of at least let us know earlier. and in 1 year it's gonna be broken. If they were at 60 at the seinfeld ending, they wouldn't atop that. I was qll hiped up for this. We've all heard of a little thing called "highlights"

Highlights just aren't the same. Why not watch highlights of the KOTH premiere?

It all comes down to a judgement call. Sure, you're going to upset people no matter what you do. FOX made the right decision, in my opinion, there's no compelling reason that KOTH can't be delayed another week. Plus, that's one less week of reruns this year. The show is still premiering before anything else on Tuesday.

I'm still trying to understand why people are so upset. I can understand why you'd be a little upset, I was I wanted to see the premiere. Its not that big of a deal - FOX didn't disrepect its KOTH viewers, in fact they had some great promos during the game and on the radio with Hank.

FOX is a huge player in sports and the main broadcast network arm of Major League Baseball. To pass up a game of this magnitude is pretty stupid if you ask me.

Oh so highlights are okay if seinfeld is on, but not KOTH? even though the ratings are gonna be way off, I bet ya KOTH will be enjoyed more(better plot).

I think we all know that about 3/4 of people changed the channel after the fourth, and if you still watched it you wanted to see if he was gonna hit any more(I'm just speaking for myself). Because St. Louie and the cubs are not the most interesting teams to watch. I heard about 3 stations on the raido and in sports highlights all they said was: "62! Mark has just hit 62 homers, sosa is right behind him!" they never even said the score, it was not a game it was a chance, a face off and a game on the side

Anyone one who has been awake in America for the past 20 years knows Babe Ruth was a Yankee and the Big Red machine (Cincinatti) won teh 75 Series (against the Boston Red Sox). The other two almost everyone has to look up.

You contempt for baseball does not make it NOT a part of American history, and a huge part of the national identity.

How is baseball more a part of history than TV? shows like mash, the partridge family, even the simpsons are shows that were on for over 10 years, but they will not be in the books. Same with baseball.

The 75 series is considered one of the best ever and if you saw Good Will Hunting it was mentioned in there since Robin Williams didn't go to game six to see Carlton Fisk hit his home run in extra innings.
