Continuity Errors!!!

Last week's episode, "My Hair Lady," was great, but as a semi-professional geek -- and one who has transcribed way too many KotH quotes for my site -- I can't help noticing some continuity gaps:

- What happened to Laoma? Suddenly Bill's in the market for female companionship again. Did Laoma go back to Laos? Did she run off with an astronaut after all? - Luanne did not flunk out of beauty school; she left because Buckley's Angel told her that she was meant for something else. Are the writers trying to contradict Buckley's Angel? - When last we saw Jack, Hank's barber, Hank left Jack because he'd gone senile and decided to get his haircuts from Bill. So much for that. - How can Bill be "moonlighting" at the salon when he's shown working in the daytime? - Once again Luanne's house doesn't seem to have anybody else in it. Have we ever seen her roommates since that episode? (And now I guess we'll never see them again.) And if she's living alone, how can she rent the house by herself?

Obviously the only possible solution is for the episode to be revised, at great time and expense, until it absolutely fits in with all 150+ previous episodes. Anything less will force the Comic Book Guy to turn his attention to Arlen.

Seriously, though, it was a great episode, though it did present a reminder of how the ending of "Wings of the Dope" was never quite followed up on -- Luanne was supposed to give up beauty school to enter junior college and find a new career, but I guess nothing took.

Right. Not only that, but in that previous episode, didn't Bill say that he couldn't or wouldn't cut hair *anywhere but on the base*. That turned out to be the focus for the whole episode. But now it's okay to do it anywhere, even actually going into a paid business outside of the army.

I have to admit that stuff does bother me when they make such a big deal out of it, as in the earlier episode and it's all forgotten now.

Then I tell myself it's only a TV show, an animated on at that. :-)

After he made that statement, the Barber Corps was disbanded and Bill was reclassified as IIRC a pinball machine repairman. Officially, there is no longer a base barber shop, and Bill only practices his trade on-base in a back room of the arcade, using equipment donated by a civilian.

Well, technically Bobby was 12 when that episode aired ("Wings of the Dope", season 3). Now he's 13. Of course that's not 2 1/2 years, and since Luanne is now 21 it means she's aged faster than Bobby... but since this is a show where the characters age only if the writers want them to, I think we can just assume that the show doesn't follow any kind of strict timeline.

Incidentally, now that Luanne has been invited to move back in with the Hills, how many times does that make that she moved out and then moved back in again? And more importantly, how many episodes have there been where Bill gets kicked, hit, or otherwise bulls-eyed in the groin?
