Why, why why is Hank being such a jerk?

....and a surrealistic food fight?...

Sorry, was pretty good at the beginning but it got screwed up somewhere.

Personally, I thought the 11/9/97 episode was delightful. One of the great things about KOTH is that it avoids the sitcom cliches; in fact, it mocks them. I was prepared to be disappointed with a stock happy ending when Bobby darted away from Hank and towards the runway. I figured he'd go out there, strut his stuff, everyone would be happy, and Hank would recognize the error of his ways. Bor-ing. But then Hank grabbed the boy! And was vindicated when the donuts started flying. In sitcom land, Dooley and the thugs would have accepted the Mr. Junior Plus boys and joined them for a milkshake. In the real world, it would have gone down just as it did. And once again, Hank's basic decency and parenting ability are affirmed; he saved his son from a horrible fate.

I think Hank saved Bobby from a horrible ordeal. If Bobby would've been there when Dooley and the others were throwing doughnuts, Bobby would probably be so depressed that he'd never leave his house again, no matter how bad Bobby wanted to be in that fashion show.

Indeed. I thought that the "Afterschool Special" reference was extremely appropriate given that this episode was, in many ways, the polar opposite of those shows.

The most amazing thing to me is that this is the first time in a long time where a sitcom father has actually been proven right, *especially* when it's come to curtailing the desires of a son.

There was one great line out of that show too. Hank is driving like a madman to get to the show on time, and Peggy says something to the effect that "It doesn't matter how fast you drive, we will never make it before the show starts."

And Hank says "Oh yeah? I didn't fill up with 89-octane for nothing."

Kept me laughing for at least ten minutes...

I thought they shouldve left Bobby to do the show..it is the classic "father knows best" ending..which as we all know from life's experiences isnt always true....this program should show it like it is..and let bobby be whopped with donuts if that is what wouldve happened..live and learn

Yeah, they lost me with the second half of the episode. "Sorry son, I'm afraid you'll look like a sissy in front of the Beavis and Butt-Head characters Mike Judge brought into this episode because he was apparently too tired to think up a decent ending".

The show for next week looks bad too. Does Judge think he was getting a reputation for doing a show with clever, intelligent writing and decided to dumb it down with today's episode and bring in Green Day for next week's show?

Let's wait and see. Green Day's appearance doesn't necessarily mean a bad show.

Last night's episode was really cool, IMHO! I know it was a little dumbed-down at the end. It was cool to see Bobby learn many things that were making him happy. It was cool when Hank dragged Bobby away from the Fashion Show and that bratty kid-model and the others got doughnuts thrown at him.

When that scene was over Bobby said, "How did you know THAt would happen?" I almost cracked up! BTW, Green Day's appearance is going to be a blast! Can't wait! That is if you like Green Day.

Well I thought it was a really nice episode! I quite enjoyed it! :) But, being musically minded, I DO have a question. Could anybody let me know what music that was that was played on the runway in the episode? I know I've heard it on the radio before but I don't know the artist. Is it Crystal Waters?
