I'm new to this group, so I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but....
I love the show (and I'm still mad that Fox killed the best night in television), but one thing I hope doesn't happen is what I call the "Unnecessary Dumbing Down of a Regular Character" (UDDRC).
For example, Homer Simpson never really seemed headed for Mensa membership, but the past couple of seasons have seen him get extraordinarily stupid, if cheerfully so (maybe it has to do with the Simpson male IQ loss they talked about in one episode). In earlier seasons he seemed capable of at least one intelligent insight per say couple of episodes. (e.g., when he reeled off the Supreme Court Justices once). But now it seems that the creators of the show are going out of their way to make Homer seem dumb. Heck, this was not even inflicted upon Lenny and Squiggy (though probably because there was no room left to dumb down to).
Last week's episode of KOTH _seems_ to hint at similar developments for Bill. Again, we're not talking Einstein, but would Bill _really_ wolf down those hormone biscuits? Is Bill the victim of UDDRC? This is the man, after all, who had enough compassionate insight to get Homet not to replace Khan's lawn divot with his own lawn divot. In and of itself, not necessarily an indication of IQ, but he was quick enough to advise Hank not to do it, and also to advise him to go inside and hug his wife. Anyway, I hope I'm wrong.
