Peggy will always be Bobby's mother, dead or alive. Bobby will adjust eventually, and we'll get to see his progress. Arlen will get by. Bill may have some unsurmountable problems, though.

Keep in mind that Peggy was traveling at some 120 miles an hour when she "landed". That's like two cars head-on at 60 miles an hour each without seatbelts (and no flying out the window and skipping across the grass, either).

Let's see <balancing alternatives in two hands> (cheap trick) vs. (fully developed character moves on in full view of the audience, leaving many plot opportunities in her absence). I don't know. It COULD be that the creators of _King of the Hill_ are so untalented that they have to resort to cheap tricks time after time; but maybe they have some talent after all.
] Has anyone noticed that every season finale of KOTH has a ] cliffhanger? First it was where Bobby & co were playing Spin the Bottle ] and Bobby runs away and we never really knew who he kissed. Then that ] propane explosion from last time. Now I guess it's Peggy's turn to have ] her life in the balance.
I don't know about other people, but I've noticed the things you've mentioned. I also noticed that Cotton and Didi Hill just had a baby, and we don't know yet (supposedly; I'm pretty sure it has to be a girl) whether it's a boy or a girl. How much more cliffhanger do you think the world can stand? This isn't like those plot elements where they don't show anything and the audience is supposed to assume things (usually incorrectly); this time they showed the whole thing.

Bobby and Luanne had planned to be elsewhere that weekend, so that Hank and Peggy could celebrate their twentieth anniversary with some privacy (you know, drinking and stuff). But Luanne's camping trip with her friends got unexpectedly canceled because of a forest fire, so Luanne pretended to go on the trip (taking a taxi away from the house and everything, and carrying the can of gravy she used as a cover story), but she had noplace else to go, so she climbed back into her bedroom window (which this time was on the rear wall of the house, though previously it had been on the side wall of the garage or non-existent), using the can of gravy to lure Lady Bird away from the window, but was caught in the kitchen (which now goes from the front of the house clear through to the back on the end that Kahn and family usually live) when Hank and Peggy got back, so she had to hide first in the closet (where she caught her hair in the vacuum cleaner), and later moved to the cabinet under the sink. Still later, she didn't want to answer the phone when Bobby called about Didi's impending delivery, but she finally answered in a deep voice ("Tony's Pizza") and brought the news to Hank while he was on the radio to Peggy while she was debating whether to jump (the remaining question being whether she knew the rip-cords would not deploy the parachutes). Peggy had been very depressed during the entire episode, but this news seemed to give her the resolve to jump out of the airplane (and give her final Fat Albert impression).
