Where IS everybody? Why don't we have dozens and dozens of posts here? Why does it seem like there's only five or ten people who post with any kind of regularity at all?
HAS the show lost our interest? I like Futurama, but I honestly don't see how it merits forty TIMES as many posts in its NG as we have here...........obviously, if that many folks can find their way THERE, they could darn well drop by here, too, if they wanted.................so why don't they?

Personally, I watch King of the Hill later in the week (I tape the show, there is another show at the same time that I watch), so I don't view this newsgroup until I have watched the current episode. By that time, anything I would say that is worth saying has already been said.
Secondly, I would venture a guess that Futurama is aimed at a younger audience than is King of the Hill. All one has to do is visit the newsgroups for shows that are aimed at a younger audience and notice the number of posts as opposed to those shows where the age demographics are older. Notice South Park versus Home Improvement. Maybe it is just that us older folks don't spend as much time in TV newsgroups. I tend to spend most of my ng reading in my favorite sports teams newsgroups.

I think you may be on to something there, Kurt. I wouldn't even be here myself if it wasn't for the simplicity of webtv ( a good way for technologically-challenged ol' fogies like me to get online without having to rewire our neural circuitry ). I really wouldn't be too surprised to find out that most KOTH fans had many interests other than tv newsgroups..........shame, though. The lack of activity here has forced me to make forays into alt.tv.futurama, where I kinda feel like Hank Hill at a Star Trek convention..................

Well, there a couple of other things working here. One is that the name of the newsgroup isn't that easy to guess from the name of the show. Another is that not all ISPs carry it (half of mine do and the other half don't, even though I've requested it by name).
Another is that there's only so much you can do with a what's your favorite line/character/episode thread. A little controversy about what's responsible or irresponsible in an episode or whether baseball or _King of the Hill_ ought to carry more weight on alt.tv-king-of-hill can take a thread a little farther. There used to be a nice FAQ file a couple of years back, which provided both answers and a source of discussion. Someone could start a Frequently Asserted Notions (FAN) file that could make it easier for new posters to get started, something like:
_King of the Hill_ it a good show. It's a shame it isn't still on on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/.... It ought to be on on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/.... Baseball/Football/Election-coverage/... is more important than KOTH. Bill is stupid. Dale is stupid. Peggy is stupid. Luanne isn't as stupid as she seems. Hank at least tries. Boomhauer is hard to understand. Boomhauer is his last name. Arlen is in Arlen County. Arlen is in Heimlich County. Arlen has between 1000 and 2000 people. Arlen has between 100,000 and 200,000 people. Arlen is in Texas, but it moves around from episode to episode. _King of the Hill_ is a lot like _Beavis and Butt-Head_. _King of the Hill_ is a lot like _Daria_. Is not. Is, too.
Futurama fans are obsessive little nerds who sit around counting "references". We aren't.
