Did anyone see "Law & Order" last night? (11/6/97) They put a group of militia nuts on trial because they killed a guy during an armored car hold-up. At the preliminary arraignment, the judge asked for their plea, and one of the nuts says they are prisoners of war and, under the Geneva convention, must be treated differently. The judge says "Regardless of the merits of your claim, this is a civilian civil court and I have no authority to rule on your request." Whereupon the nut stands up, points to the flag standing behind the judge and says:
"Yes you do, your honor! That flag has fringes on it; therefore, this is a military tribunal. Becasue of this, you can rule on my motion!"
It was amazing! It was exactly the same as the scene in Sunday's KOTH where Dale was objecting to the court's personal jurisdiction over him by pointing out that the flag had fringes & was therefore a naval court.
