I am beginning to wonder if Bobby is the illegitimate love-child of Peggy and Bill, rather than Hank's offspring. Bill's haziness, vague homosexual/effete leanings, and general buffoonery comport much more with Bobby's character than do any of Hank's obvious traits (to say nothing of their physical similarities!). The writers of KOTH do a good job of developing characters whose motivations and demeanors can be better appreciated in light of the nature and nurture provided by their parents --Hank in comparison to his mother and father, and certainly Luann in relation to her mother, for example. But nothing in Bobby's personae says anything of Hank --he may have inherited traits which predispose him towards an appreciation of the arts from Peggy, but what has he gotten from Hank (other than a desire to emulate his work ethic, as seen last season)? We know neighborhood cuckoldry is a theme already explored on KOTH --witness Joseph, the offspring of John Redcorn and Dale's wife. And we know that Hank, possessed of a "narrow urethra" had a hard time siring in the first place --if of course, that's what he did. Perhaps this is what happened: A dozen or so years ago, Hank and Peggy had come to terms with the fact that Hank may not be able to father children, due to his urethral problems. Peggy was distraught, and we know from prior episodes that she tends to turn to the bottle when depressed, and gets drunk pretty easily. We also know that Bill, a porn-addict whose wife has left him, has for a long time now desired the company of a woman --might the two have shared a brief night of passion, which resulted in Bobby? Does Hank know of the origins of "his" boy? Does Bill? Does Peggy? Last episode, when Hank was talking about dying, Bill made a reference (which I wish I had caught more fully) to offering to "look after the boy when you're gone" and also said something about looking after Peggy --as I recall, Hank took at least one of the offers less than graciously.... Further, we know that out of Hank's three main buddies, Bobby has shown a predilection towards Bill --wanting the Superbowl party to be at his house again this year, etc. And we know Bill wouldn't hesitate to selfishly screw his close buddies over --witness his theft of the couch this week so that only he could possess it! Hood, don't make me have to come over there... Didn't Peggy, in an episode last season, say that she would tongue kiss Bill before she would let Luanne's mother stay in her house? This was meant as the last thing in the world that she would want to do.
And why would she make such a big point of that...?

Okay, let me rephrase this for Jeremy: Hank as a young boy does not look anything like Bobby. He looks like a younger version of Cotton. Bobby, to me, does not look like either Hank or Cotton. I think whoever came up with the "Bill as Bobby's father" theory may be right on the money.
