Has Peggy Hill lost her mind? Perhaps falling out of a plane shook something up inside her noggin. First she helps her son to cheap on an essay, then she engineers the stealing and defiling of an American flag. And this is a former subsitute teacher of the year.
Although I liked Bobby's line at the end: "She wrote my essay and many of yours".

Peggy has been flawed the whole time, not just since the muddy landing. The help she gave him would be not all that unusual in real life, I suspect. And she only engineered the borrowing of the flag. The defiling was an accident. At least they disposed of it more or less correctly in the end. (ObFlag: The American flag shouldn't be used as a shoulder patch; check your local patriot.)

I think she got it two more times since and is the reigning substitute teacher of the year, though Bobby has been twelve for most of that time.

That Bobby knows how to turn a crowd. He's the real King of the Hill in my book. He and Connie would make an unstoppable team.
I tell ya what, I'm beginning to not much like those Hills........Hank is still walkin' around with a poker up his backside, passing judgement right and left and resolutely avoiding anything resembling empathy for others, and Peggy is a petty, self-absorbed matron with a definite mean streak and an ego bordering on delusional.
Oh, sure, I know this is a deliberate decision by Judge, et al, to enhance the realism of the characters, but I think they're in need of just a _bit_ more warmth and fuzziness..........I don't _wanna_ dislike 'em, darn it!

As for Hank, I like that he's sort of the voice of reason in the family. He has a steadying influence, though you've got to wonder, with Peggy as a wife, Cotton as a father, Dale Gribble and Bill D... as best friends, Boomhauer as a voice coach and Kahn as a next door neighbor, you've just got to wonder how long before he takes that shotgun up into a tower somewhere.

Granted, she was dragged through the mud last season (couldn't get pregnant, jealous of Bobby's girlfriend, the horrific beauty pageant experience, being played for a fool by that prisoner, and finally falling out of a plane) but it's gotten to the point where it's hard to find anything to LIKE about Peggy. She was already off to a bad start this season with the shop teacher episode, and she definitely topped herself this week. I was cringing the whole time.

Tell that to Bill who had to watch his beloved flag go up in smoke. First Lenore now this? I tell you that man will be hanging from that 90 foot flag pole in the next episode.
It's probably one of those honorary awards that the school gives out just to show their appreciation and Peggy has blown its significance all out of proportion.
Yes, Bobby's going to be dangerous in a few years. If only they'd let the kid grow up.
Oh yeah, I also liked Kahn in last night's episode. "Kahn, get up, it's 10:30!"

Oh, now. In that one act she combined reaching her long-term goal of dancing on Cotton's grave with reaching her short-term goal of shrugging off the landing. I almost squirted a tear.
She started out in the very first episode (wasn't it?) asking Luanne if it felt good to have no shame. I didn't think that was very nice, even then.
They manage to have her spout at least one bit of misinformation in each episode, but nobody seems to notice on the show. But when she gets self-absorbed or tries to help someone, they do notice eventually. Does that happen more than once every couple of episodes? Is it really increasing, or are the recent ones the ones we remember best?

Gee, it sure _seems_ so lately........it kinda seems like she's become the character who Judge, et al, delight in heaping abuse on, now that they've cut poor ol' Bill the slightest bit of a break............between her, Bill's problems and Luanne's fragility ( not that they've spotlighted _her_ in a while, but that's another post ), watching KOTH can be a painful experience these days........it _seems_ that I'm spending less time smiling and more time grimacing.
Thank goodness for the occasional Bobby/ Connie episode.........they're a breath of fresh air. I know they're just kids, but I'd really like to see 'em stay together and get hitched down the road.........if only to make Hank & Peggy and Kanh & Minh in-laws. :))) Ohhhh.........if the show only stayed on the air long enough ( and the kids ever aged ), what plot potential.................
Speaking of the kids, I can't help but wonder........if Connie were to see Bobby in that Village People getup from next week, what would her reaction be? I have a feeling it might be something she'd be tellin' her therapist about in years to come.............

As for scenes, a recent favorite was when they were trying to get on a plane at Thanksgiving and Peggy overhears a guy next to them speaking Spanish. She rushes up and in very broken Spanish questions him, but when he answers her, she doesn't understand him until he addresses her in English, which he spoke rather fluently as well.

Well, in the cliffhanger for the last season they had her getting more and more depressed toward the end of Didi's pregnancy (which must've lasted at least two years by either real time or Luanne-hair time, if not Bobby-age time), so it could well be that a lot of the recent stuff is attributable to her feelings about not having another baby, which probably goes to the core of her self-image.
But it hasn't been all bad, and her realization that she could get more help from the hated Cotton Hill than from the people who were supposed to be helping her was downright inspirational. And as Boggle champion, winning pitcher, and Substitute Teacher of the Year she can probably stand a little character rounding and still come out okay over all.
And how can anyone fault her for wanting to help her only son with his schoolwork. (The school people were always trying to get me to help my kids with their homework, but I avoided doing that as much as possible; yet I can't blame Peggy for applying what might have seemed to be the conventional wisdom.)
