I recall that the last time KOTH got bumped around by baseball playoffs, we were up in arms here, ready to storm the barricades for the cause.............this year, the general reaction ( if any ) seems to be a resounding "eeh, what ya gonna do?"I'm afraid that's been my reaction so far, as well............
This begs the question............has KOTH lost its ooomph? Have we grown blase about the show? Do we just not give as big a darn about those wacky Arlenians / Arlenites ( IIRC, the jury's still out on that ) as we used to? Is it all Cotten's fault? Will Bobby grow up, marry Kahn Jr, and hit the road as an itinerant prop comic all offscreen because we're busy watchin' Cotton pitch yet another fit? Will Cotton lose his forearms in a tragic riding mower accident, thus ironically regaining the symmetry he lost in the war? Will we ever get another episode of "Dale Gribble, Oblivious Cuckold" again? Will Luanne, driven to desperation by her lack of screen time, attack Didi with a large fork while screaming "THERE'S ONLY ROOM FOR _ONE_ DUMB BLOND STEREOTYPE IN _THIS_ HOUSE, SISTER!!! " ? Will the gang discover that Bill has been keeping his ex-wife in his attic? Well, most of her, at least.............
These questions, and many others just as inane, will be answered in the months ahead........or maybe not. I'm only sure of one thing.......Peggy will be 100% recovered by the next new episode!

The difference was that that time the season premiere was scheduled and bumped. This time the baseball or football or whatever it was got scheduled, so the worst that happened was that a rerun got shown a half-hour early in some time zones. Once it gets published in _TV Guide_ it should be shown regardless of anything short of a natural disaster visible from all windows, and even then it should be shown, because people who want to watch the natural disaster can look out their windows. A nation has got to have priorities.

Times are different. Last year a good majority of the bumps were unplanned and unannouced. On two different days, Fox would actually advertise the show was coming on THAT NIGHT and instead, there was baseball.
We were alarmed that KOTH was going to get killed in the ratings because of this. And.. KOTH was killed in the ratings. Fox didn't try to push KOTH until it was too late and they lost the night.
This season, the interuptions were plan in advance and everyone can adjust their TV viewing. Nothing to get really annoyed over. Plus there was the whole home run record breaking non-event. Really rubbed non-baseball fans the wrong way. Over all I feel that sports is hurting Fox. They screw with their fall line up and amazing enough, most of america has found something else to watch by the time Fox gets its act together and starts showing new shows.

I dunno. I still find it wildly funny. Maybe they're just pressing different buttons. I still get a chuckle out of Cotton's response to Didi's "The baby's crying": something like "Those parenting classes are really kicking in." And the whole "Good Hank" thing is great. Poor, simple B.H. insists on taking offense at it, which makes the whole thing pay off for Cotton. And Cotton's final carrot for Peggy is another great line. Old Cotton is moving ahead of just about everyone but Bobby, Luanne, and Connie in my book.
