I've been meaning to post this. It ran as a sidebar for a feature about Johnny Hardwick in The Dallas Morning News. Those who pay attention, will already know Hardwick voices Dale and is a writer for "King of the Hill." Hardwick hails from Austin ... and is a swell guy.

---------

WHAT'S BUGGING DALE? DURN NEAR EVERYTHING

He's the rabble-rousing exterminator of Arlen, Texas. He never met a conspiracy he didn't like, but he doesn't know his wife is getting more than organic remedies from her herbal healer. The frequent object of Hank's wrath, all he wants is another beer and the federal government out of his hair. Dale Gribble took time out of his busy schedule to answer The Dallas Morning News' pressing questions. (Actually, Dale's alter-ego, Johnny Hardwick, sent them by fax. But who's counting?) -- Chris Vognar

Q: To what do you attribute the success of your marriage? A: My track-team physique.

Q: Your neighbor Hank Hill was recently selected as one of 1997's "Texas Twenty" by Texas Monthly magazine. What's your theory as to why you weren't considered? A: I mailed my entry late. That's my position. Next Question.

Q: Once and for all: Who really killed JFK? A: The true mastermind was George "Spymaster General" Bush, in collusion with Fidel Castro, the Mafia, LBJ, Nixon, the Secret Service and Vic Tayback. Not the guy from "Alice," a different Vic Tayback.

Q: How do you feel about herbal medicines, and how has John Redcorn's treatment helped your wife, Nancy? A: Nancy is half-hippie, on her mother's side.

Q: What makes Arlen, Texas, the ideal place to live? A: Well, Hank Hill lives here. That's good enough for me. Plus we got the world's first bagel-hole shop. Those suckers are good. Hey, you ever take M&Ms and put 'em in the freezer? Man!

Q: How often do you get to Dallas? More important, how do you like the Cowboys' chances this season. A: I categorically was NOT in Dallas during the JFK assassination! I wish you would quit bringing this up! More importantly ... the Cowboys are gonna kick ass! Woooo!

Q: Do you think Hank will ever get around to kicking your ass? A: Them Cowboys are gonna kick ass! Woooo! Go Cowboys!

Q: How do you understand what Boomhauer is saying? What do you think makes him talk like that? A: Beer. Beer.

Q: Are we alone in the universe? A: What do you mean, "we"?
