Review and Capsule Submissions

[Sorry I'm late, but it's been a hectic last couple of weeks thanks to finals. But now I'm home and finally have time to do capsule submissions. I'll get my submissions for "Plastic White Female" and "King of the Ant Hill" done soon, but this is all I have time for tonight.]

Review: After reading the premise for this episode, I did not expect much heading into it. I was wrong -- I liked this episode because it gave an accurate portrayal of how easy it is to get hooked on smoking and how hard it is to give up. (I do not smoke myself, but I know a lot of people who do, and I'm sure they've had hard times trying to quit.) A lot of funny lines (like "I thought those were the ingredients!") and scenes (like Bobby treating his sausage like a cigarette) also helped. (A-)

Hank wore glasses with thin frames when was dating Peggy? .... the MasterCard and Visa signs on the cash register at Smokey's? .... the man who rides the bus with Twig Boy at the end of 4E01 sitting behind Bill at the Cigarenders' meeting? .... Luanne spitting as she tells the Hills to function?

[Finally, my capsule submissions for "Plastic White Female"...]

Review: A nice ending to the first season. The timing was excellent for one thing, as Luanne's beauty school final coincided with my college finals. And after suspending my disbelief about Bobby flirting with a plastic head, I found myself enjoying this episode. The only scene that I did not like was the destruction of the plastic head, even though it led to a nice scene at the academy. (B+)

DYN: .... Bobby and Joseph are spitting off a pedestrian walkway (as opposed to a road overpass) in the opening? .... Ladybird sleeps in a basket outside? .... Bobby drinks grape soda? .... Ladybird playing with a ball when Bobby dances to the salsa music? .... Bobby eats bacon and eggs for breakfast? .... Kahn Jr. riding a boy's bicycle?

I've seen all but the one where Luanne moves out. I hope it re-runs soon. All have hit the bulls-eye as far as I am concerned. Each one has had us laughing our asses off. If I had to pick a fav. those....
