Really. As in, "Didn't they beat that into the ground in the '60s?"

Either it's a bad late April Fool's joke, or Mike Judge has decided that he has mined small-town Texas culture for all it's worth. If it's the latter, I think he's wrong. The best KotH episodes have been the ones rooted in Texas attitudes and characters. You can't conceive of setting the "Manger Babies" episode in L.A., for example. (Well, if you go inland a good many miles. But not on the west side of town.)

The best construction I can put on it, if the move is for real and permanent, is that KotH's creators want a larger stage to satirize Hollywood/New Age/Big Money culture by putting Hank in the belly of the beast.

The worst construction is that KotH is just plain selling out.

It'll be interesting to see whether Fox or MJ is forthcoming with an explanation in the near future.

I seriously HOPE that this is a gag of some sort, just to see what happens. Maybe a one or two episode shot. hank and Co. get enough culture shock right there in Arlen, as the influences of the outside world slowly but surely invade their little town, as they to all eventually.
