I have been watching koth since it's first airing,and here is what I am wondering,why does Hank drink so much beer? Aside from drinking in the alley with his buddies,he drinks at home,while he's watching tv,out on the patio,even with his meals.What gives?I don't believe I have ever seen him drunk,but he still drinks too much.Any thoughts?

Perhaps he's not "drinking" those beers so much as "nursing" them, making them last a good long time. For all we know, the beer he drinks at the table may be the same beer he started to drink earlier in the day. Thus his daily beer consumption may not be as high as the show would have one believe.
Or, perhaps he's got a "hollow leg", as my mom always used to say about someone with a hearty appetite...

Hank and the gang probably turn to beer for health reasons..........I don't think it's safe to drink the water in that particular part of Texas. Yep, too high a propane level in the groundwater.......at first, they thought it was just natural carbonation, but then smokers started blowin' up. Heckuva way to kick the habit, eh?

If Arlen is anywhere near Highland, the problem may be uranium in the drinking water, as reported in the premiere episode of _Daria_ after she had escaped to Lawndale. Beer is probably much safer. When the temperature is 110 degrees (Fahrenheit) in the shade, you've got to replace those fluids any way you can.

Dale smokes, and Hank and Peggy used to. But Hank and Dale switched to beer, and Peggy no longer smokes. You may be onto something here. If you can't trust the drinking water, what can you trust.

This is a simple matter of timing... the times you see Hank with his beer are a select few... its more than likely that at all other times, he drinks water, or soda, or nothing.
It's sorta like when ya see someone three times in the course of a year, and they're wearing the same thing each time... this is no indicator that said person only wears that particular outfit... it simply means that this is what this person was wearing at those particular three instances... what was this person wearing the other three hundred and sixty-two days that you DIDN'T see him/her?
