I don't know...that episode about Cotton stealing Generalisimo Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna's leg was pretty impressive, and very close to home. And the "Castro" episode, with Hank's late-night excursion into the Alamo Chapel. The animators did their research.

I think that Cotton is kind of a composite of attitudes of the deeply entrenched "old school" types that grew up in Texas. I think he is supposed to represent a right wing mentality that has not put much effort into keeping up with the times. I think some of his lines are funny, but I hope they do something different with the character...I start to avoid episodes (in rerun anyway) that involve him, because he's just plain annoying.
I think Dale's paranoia was something that when the series first started was supposed to be a satirical "composite" of the paranoid anti-government types that run around states like Texas, Oklahoma and some of the deep south. Unfortunately, it's not that hard to find people like him in those states, so finding a unique cause for Dale may be tough to find. If they find a cause for his paranoia, they'd have to sort of explain the collective paranoia that exists among that mentality. >
good point on the Dale situation. I think that the few episodes that have been centered on Dale's paranoia have been excellent thus far in the series. A root episode would be kinda silly now that I think of it. I was thinking originally that maybe sub-consciously Dale knew something was going on with Nancy and Redcorn but projected it as the government was out to get him. Something like that. I think that joke has kinda run its course and I think even someone as slow as him would figure it out eventually. Maybe he is forgiving enough to live with it though. Maybe not. Nancy is kinda a flat character anyway.
As for Bill, I think he needs to get a woman. She does not have to be pretty (Ann Richards looked too good to go out with him!), and maybe we can sorta see him finally get out of his rut.
I cannot sit through the Cotton episodes either, actually. They are slow and usually not that funny.
Who are some characters who have been kinda left out as of late? Here is a list of characters I would like to see again.
1) Jimmy Wichard- maybe at a genius reunion? :-) 2) Luann's mom. Maybe she will show up with a man more fitting to her tastes than Bill. 3) Kahn. 4) Jimmy Carter- he really should have provided his voice to the show. Does anyone know if he were asked to and declined? 5) Butthead I mean Dooley- Bobby needs to befriend him.
