Yesterday, I saw the KOTH ep slated for tonight (how? I work at a TV station and caught a satellite feed). It's good. Hank and his buddies travel to New Orleans so he can try for a million dollar prize. While in the Big Easy, Bill is reunited with his relatives, voiced by Meryl Streep and the Dixie Chicks. We learn two things about Bill: that he can speak Cajun French and that his surname was originally "D'Haute Rive" (the high shore). Stephen Root again does a fine job voicing Bill, even with the French dialogue. His scenes with his kin are dead-on parodies of Tennessee Williams. I also like the closing scene with Hank and Dandy Don. I wish I had taped it because the closing credits were unsquished and presented in full, with a longer version of the Refreshments' theme!

The only question is.............why the heck would Bill wanna go back to Arlen? Three cousins in the hand beats one Peggy in the bush! Or somethin' like that.........................
I was proud of Bill, first for standing up to Peggy (and wasn't it obvious that she wants him to remain her dog?) and second for admitting to his aunt that he came to play...and he played, and won, and left. Bill was the man all around this week.

Yeah, that's true, but the mistress of the house only told him to leave after asking him what his intentions were..........she told him to go after he more or less admitted that he was just there for a fling and had no intentions to stay, anyway. I dunno why she took it that way, though.......she herself had made the point of just how badly those "harp strings" needed to be "strummed." ( poor Violetta............I guess this makes her the prime candidate to lose it altogether and cook up the rest of the clan in a big ol' etouffe or something, eh? Or maybe she'll be payin' a call on Arlen some day............stranger things have definitely happened ) ( now that WOULD make a great ep! Imagine a whole show about Peggy trying to keep Bill and Violetta apart........)
It's a shame, really.........I think Bill had a real shot at bein' Alpha Male of the mansion...........and I kinda got the impression that a little good, clean inbreeding wouldn't've been much of an issue with anybody there, either. Actually, I'm a tad surprised that Bill's two dead cousins managed to marry _outside_ the family! :)
You know, granted two of those women were only related through marriage, but damn! Bill's attempts at inbreeding even fail.... sort of. At some point in the episode I was reminded of that movie The Beguiled. After the previous two episodes I was a little disappointed by this one.
