The gang ate at a Mexican restaurant called Panchos the other night. I stayed in Phoenix AZ back in 86 for a couple of months and I recall a Tex-Mex restaurant by the same name with a buffet style as well. Can anyone from Phoenix tell me if it's still there? (it was somewhere around Indian School - not sure though) Just curious.

Yes, Pancho's is still there. Haven't eaten there in a few years, but I drive by it all the time.

I missed bits of the ep and I haven't had a chance to watch the tape. Did the Pancho's on the show have flags at each table that you have to raise to let the waiter know you need something? That's the thing I hate most about that damn chain.

I forgot to look for the flags--but they did mention the sopapillas (add unique Peggy Hill pronunciation here.) Ya can't eat at Pancho's without those little pillows of dough and loads of honey.
No, it ain't great Mexican or Tex-Mex food, but it is a great place for hungry yet broke college students to overeat. Pancho's and Ramen got me through college and grad school (in Lubbock, TX). Actually, I read the other day that Pancho's is upgrading nowdays, so perhaps they'll be rid of the annoying flags.

Yeah, you and every other town of population 200K or greater in the US. :-) (Speakin' of franchises, I remember when Elgin got its first McDonald's... "There goes the neighborhood", I thought to myself... anyway.)
