Hank's Got the Willies Real life Similarities

As a side note to KOTH, Mike Judge lives/produces KOTH/B&B in Austin, TX (where I live), the guitar repairman bears an UNCANNY resemblance to an Austin guitar distributor, Ray Henning. Not only does the man resemble him, but the background in the scene has sketchings similar to Stevie Ray Vaughan, whom Ray Henning also has REAL pics in his shop as SRV used to actually solicit his shop, Heart of Texas music.

Just a side slice of real life, yet cannily integrated into this fine show..

Also, the closing shot of the episode with a woman (Ann Richards) with tall white hair playin tetherball w/a man just had me rolling..

That and Hank shoving "Rooster Boy" Lyle Lovett had me dying.. The incorporation of true Texas life into the show is what makes it special to me.. (:

I just started watching it a couple of weeks ago; but when I did, I couldn't help feeling that I knew these people. I grew up in Dallas and I now live in Austin.

I called my father one night while KOTH was on to tell him to watch. I started out by saying that I know this is a cartoon, but it's funny you should watch it. He played coy and acted like he hadn't heard of it. Finally, after I told him that it couldn't have been people we know, he broke down and told me that he was already watching the show. He had just turned the TV down to answer the phone so nobody would know he was watching it. Anyway, he was also struck by the verisimilitude of the show.

With all of the stereotypes regarding Texans, do you think this is good or bad for Texans? Of course, I was probably the proto-Beavus since I spent my high school days dressed in concert T-shirts and watching MTV (among other things).
