With all this crap about whether "best Boomhauer lines" belong here (I regret starting this flamewar, and I apologize for it) and the "Free Dutch Sex" thread, I would like to start a new thread. I am compiling a list of characters who have appeared on the show. (You should see alt.tv.simpsons -- some people try to start character lists of their own even though there already is a comprehensive cast list out there. Since nobody's tried it here, I might as well start it now.)
This will be a list that will be posted to this newsgroup twice a month (around the 1st and 15th of each month), so the next revision will be posted on or around April 1. It is grouped into three categories at this stage: The Hill family (including Luanne and Ladybird), the neighborhood (Dale and his family, Bill, Boomhauer, and Kahn and his family), and miscellaneous characters (like John Redcorn and Buckley). I have also added a few tidbits about each character.
This list is completely off the top of my head, so there may be a few things missing or wrong. If there is something you would like to add -- a new character or new information about an existing character that I may have forgotten -- please let me know by e-mailing me. The only thing I ask if you're submitting a new character is that the character must have been named on the show. For instance, at this stage we don't know the name of Hank's father, so I can't add him to the list until we find out for sure. Same deal with the environmentalists in tomorrow's re-run ("Order of the Straight Arrow," 4E03).
I don't know who does most of the voices (aside from some of the main characters), so I haven't included voice credits in this edition. I would like to include them in the future -- hopefully in the next revision -- so let me know if you know who does each character's voice!

Peggy Hill - Hank's wife - Substitute Teacher of the Year in 1996 - Wears size 16 shoes; has to travel to Lubbock in order to buy shoes using the alias Gracia Ibanez (4E03) - Plays Boggle and fast-pitch softball in her spare time
Bobby Hill - 12-year-old son of Hank and Peggy - Student at Tom Landry Middle School - Member of Hank's Straight Arrow troop and Little League team - Plays his Game Boy machine in his spare time
Luanne - Peggy's brother's daughter (4E03) - Lives with the Hills after her parents got into a fight and ended up in jail - Student at Arlen Beauty Academy
Ladybird - The Hills' dog, a pure-bred Georgia bloodhound (4E06) - Mother tracked down James Earl Ray

The Souphanousinphones -- Kahn, wife Minh, and daughter Kahn Jr. - Hank's new neighbors (4E06) - Originally from Laos, they moved to Arlen after spending 20 years in Anaheim, California - Kahn Jr. is so named because Kahn wanted a boy

Dr. Morley - Sigmoidscopist who examined Hank's constipation problem (4E07)
So as you can see, even one-shot characters are eligible for this list (as long as we know their names). Again, if you have anything to add or correct, please let me know and I'll give you credit in the next edition.
