Does Arlen, Texas exist?

I just called 411 at Verizon and ask for Arlen, TX and they didn't have one.

However, they DID HAVE a listing for ARLAM, TX.

That might be the origin of the name, but hey, it's only a tv show, right?

He may tell people that in Garland. In Arlington it's another story. Meanwhile, Arlen is on the route from Arizona to Port Aransas and the miniatures museum that Hank's mom and her friends like, and Arlen has the same ZIP Code (in the dog-house episode) as Beeville (which is on the road to Port Aransas). Dallas is generally an over-night trip and Houston is an hour or two away (close enough for Bobby to drive it when Good Hank was born). Beeville has a What-a-Burger and two water towers, one for the college and one for the town. The crossing where Hank's old pick-up died is just outside town. I didn't see Hank's neighborhood in Beeville, so that may be in Garland or Arlington. I think the river from Arlen flows to Houston, but I think the river from Beeville flows to Corpus Christi. The snake ranch in New Braunfels is an easy trip from Beeville. All in all, it's a question that doesn't admit of detailed analysis.

Amusingly, the Texas-looking lady in the Texas Visitor Center in Texarkana had never even heard of _King of the Hill_. (She didn't know where the Dr Pepper Bottling Plant and Museum were, either.)

Basically, it is based on many places, and the things that Judge feels make them noteworthy. Most episodes dealing with local and/or city beauracracies (like the few times "Twig Boy" has appeared) are definitely based on "The People's Republic of Austin".
