Is Futurama a drama?

Because it certainly isn't a comedy. Comedies are supposed to make you laugh (see "Simpsons", "Family Guy", "King of the Hill."). Futurama has barely registered a smirk.

But M*A*S*H took place during a war. You'd expect the sort of dark humor that show is infused with, and it worked extremely well. That is until Alda took over and turned it into a soapbox.

But KotH doesn't have that excuse. Or is a Texas suburb comparable to Korea in the 50's?

I disagree. When they replaced Col. Blake, Trapper, Frank and Radar with Col. Potter, BJ, Winchester and Klinger, it ceased to be the M*A*S*H I enjoyed watching.

But the reruns from the first few seasons still crack me up.

You're right, bad example... what I meant was it went from a comedy with dramatic moments to an almost straight-drama with only small instances of comic relief.

But where is it stated that just because "King of the Hill" is an animated show it has to be rip snorting funny? It's really more of a live action show about a family in suburbia that just so happens to use animated characters. Even the live action sit-coms aren't always wall to wall laughs. Such show as "All in the Family" have at times dealt with serious subject, like one episode dealt with the attempted rape of Edith. "Roseanne" dealt with Dan having a heart attack and Darlene almost losing her baby.

I fully agree with this and just want to point out that All in the Family dealt with serious issue quite often, it was not at all a rare thing.

The best part was when Hank was feeding Peggy with a baby bottle even though she kept telling him she wouldn't be fed that way. That she didn't want to be fed that way. That was hysterical. And then she started crying while sucking on the bottle. That was great. I laughed all night with that one. I'm glad they dragged it out, too. Really brought out the humour. I laugh now just thinking about it.

How about Hank's father, the way he insults the crap out of everyone, but they all seem to find his deplorable attitude charming, even his new wife, 40 years his junior, whom he browbeats to the point of total subservience? It's a L-A-F-F riot, I tell ya.

And how the hell do you lose your shins and not your feet? Is that some sort of inside joke? I don't get it.

I only watch that trash because it insures I won't accidentally miss "The Simpsons".
