yes, but it requires the government to pass better copywright laws for softwre. I advocate free source code should be sent with every piece of software distributed, but if you want to sell your modifications, then you need to also sell the original product, routing profits to the original manufacturer. This would lead to awesome development of software. As the laws stand now, its not monetarily effective for a software giant to put any effort to upgrade their software. Simply release new versions, no one can challenge software giants. With open source, they'd want to put all their enhancements out asap like today's inovations for non software.

With open source and compilers readily obtainable. I'd make word load in 2 sec flat, have hotkeys for minimizing windows, have a ring of copy/paste commands, and so on. But hey, I can't change the laws. And the politicians who can change the laws don't listen to the people, after all the only thing that counts for their getting re-elected is money for propoganda. They get this money from lobyists. So no rules changing coming soon.

Welp, the noise he makes is from the loss of money he'd have from indecent practices. He'd still make money under this law. Anyone who develops better things must first use a big product, prolly off microsoft, maybe another big company so everyone gains. But he couldn't rest on his laurels and release new versions with little to no features, real work would have to be done.
