According to www.clicktv.com, Futurama's "Xmas Story" episode, which debuts on December 19th, will be rerun 6 days later at 9:00 on Christmas night, December 25th. This will be the shortest time to date after which a Futurama episode has been rerun, and I believe the first time Futurama will air in the 9:00 PM timeslot on any day. Futurama at 9:00 PM...has a nice ring to it.

Both series aired their first Christmas-themed episode on December 19th (four years apart). Both episodes share the identical title "Xmas Story". Both were the 17th episodes to air of their respective series. [pending] Both plots involve a homicidal Santa Claus character. [wild guess] Both were written by at-the-time staff writer Lewis Morton.*
*Lewis Morton wrote this Newsradio Christmas ep. So far he has written more episodes of Futurama than anyone else (that would be three). I don't know if he will be the writer of Futurama's "Xmas Story," but given the other Newsradio parallels it seems like a distinct possibility.
