= Additional tidbits =Run time: ~28 seconds ======================================================================== = Synopsis =
An explosion bursts into a spread of green laser lights that fan
out across the sky. The Planet Express transport ship zips across the
screen, and in its wake spells out "Futurama" in a concave formation.
The spaceship loops around off camera and flashes past the screen
headed directly for the eye of the letter 'R'.
The camera pulls us into the eye of the letter 'R' where we imme-
diately see the New New York skyline. The camera then follows the
twists and turns of the Planet Express transport ship as it gives the
viewer a tour of the busy skies of New New York. The ship then leads
the viewer to a large sky-vision screen broadcasting a b/w cartoon.
The screen cuts away the cartoon to broadcast several production
credits until the Planet Express ship crashes into it.

= Comments & Observations = Mark Poyser: The pedestal that the Statue of Liberty is on is
partially submerged, implying global warming and melting of
the ice-caps. Prez Midnite: "Hypno-Vision" was a film technique used for at least
one film that I've heard of, though I haven't seen it: The
Maniacs Are Loose. Here is a transcription of the trailer: Announcer, with echo effect: So scary, so terrifying, we dare
*you* to see The Maniacs Are Loose! [Loose! Loose!] The world's
first horror movie made in hallucinogenic Hypno-Vision! Hallucin-
ogenic horrors not only on the screen, but IN the audience, all
around you! It's a hallucinogenic nightmare! You are put in the
middle of the picture with bloodthirsty maniacs all around you!
Not only on the screen, but live maniacs in the audience, all
over the theater looking for victims! [snip]
