Well, strictly speaking, a cracker cracks encryption, breaks copy protection, figures out 'cracks' for making unregistered software think it's been registered, that sort of thing. There really isn't any globally acceptable term for someone who breaks into computer systems, although i expect someone will respond to that statement with a cute response like "jerk" or something along those lines.
