Comments: there has been two episodes of "family guy" and it promotes family values on fox, the number one network for promoting family values.

For your newsgroups file: alt.tv.familyguy General discussion group for families who enjoy "family guy"

Charter: alt.tv.familyguy is a forum to discuss all references and delightfully humorous throwbacks to 80's commercials including kool ade and raisin bran, and the family values stressed during the course of the programs, including watching television and using america online chatrooms.

this so-called "crap" was posted for much the same reason that many "king of the hill" posts found their way into alt.tv.simpsons : they're cartoons on the fox network, and many folks would consider them "mildly" on-topic. (much like all the futurama folks posting in the simpson group.)

Family Guy is not particularly original, but at least when it steals, it steals mostly from the best. A Simpsons/South Park/Critic rip-off is much better than a Capitol Critters/Family Dog/Fish Police rip-off. :)

If he wants to try to get a newsgroup for this show, why should you discourage it? Just as long as it isn't you doing it, he might just get it. He isnt insulting everyone over in alt.config like another post i seem to remember.

alt.tv.family-guy (with a hyphen) is more readable.

Most TV series have a very short life; thus it is better not to start a newsgroup until the series has shown it is going to be around a while--when it is renewed for the next season is a reasonable time.
