Philip Fry on Simpsons

Did anyone else see the Simpsons tonight(Sunday)? In the intro down comes Fry on the couch, briefly before being replaced by Maggie(?). Was that a cry for attention by Matt?

Maybe he is trying to help the faltering Futurama. . .

I mean, so is the refrence to Bart Simpson in "A Big Pile Of Garbage" a cry for help for the Simpsons? I think it's just Groening being silly and transporting characters between shows.

Yeah, there's a lot of cross-series play there, but that same episode of The Simpsons had at least one other jab at Fox... (to paraphrase)
