Bart and Homer drive their hover car through one end of a quantum tunnel and emerge from the other side with Bender in the car. A few unfunny words are passed and Homer tosses Bender out of the car, where he is dashed to pieces in a long-overdue death. Hopefully he will never be seen again, anywhere.

I can go geekier than that: Bender is always at horrible risk because his personality is on (IIRC) a 3.5" floppy disk (I saw that Futurama a couple of weeks ago). The only non volatile data storage I can think of that's less reliable would be an audio casette, as used in the Model T of computers, the Commodore 64.

Morgan Proctor downloads Bender's brain/personality to a floppy in the episode "How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back," but there's no indication that that's where it's usually stored. Besides, what looks to us like an old floppy disk might well be something quite different in 1000 years.

Robots in Futurama CAN die (Bender's Uncle Vladimir did, and "A Pharaoh to Remember" shows Bender concerned about being remembered after his own death), but I don't think being thrown out of a car would do it. He went through much worse in "Roswell That Ends Well."

John DiMaggio is a very fine voice actor. His VO work (much of which I've experienced) should speak rock-concert volumes to casting agencies that he needs more live-action play as well. I saw "Pirates of Silicon Valley" a while ago, tho, but barely remember how much he figured into it.

I think Steve Ballmer is more extreme in reality. Try and watch some of his TV appearances ( http://www.ntk.net/ballmer/mirrors.html ). Apart from that I believe that John was the perfect actor for the part.
