FOX did not order any new episodes this year. And no I don't think another network could take it over unless FOX sold or aired the episodes they haven't shown yet. Also the layoffs have already started at Curiosity Company so even if another station or FOX buys new episodes in the future it won't be produced by the same writers and producers since they will have gotten other jobs at that point.

At least that's my understanding of it all.

He may have the right to shop the show around. If it got picked up soon enough, he should be able to keep enough of the team together for continuity.

All of this is highly speculative. One of the reasons that Fox treated Futurama like a smelly dog who dug up their rose garden is that they don't own it and they have less control over it. Trying to get another station to pick it up could be hard. But, it has been done before.

If they are shopping the show to other networks, they would naturally keep it quiet so they don't ruin any chance of Fox ordering more eps in a few months.

We'll just have to wait and write letters until there is a definite answer.
