Can someone explain to me the significance of the words "The PJs" and a cartoon face on a manhole cover in this episode? I know "The PJs" was an animation/claymation series, but don't understand the point/signifcance of this reference...

The opening sequence in The PJs startet with a manhole cover just like that.

Because in the opening of "The P.J.'s" there is a manhole cover with the main characters face on it. In multiple episodes of Futurama that same Manhole cover is seen. Just as Fry's picture was seen on a milk carton in "The P.J.'s". Also they are both FOX shows, Ran on the same night (Tuesdays), And both take place in New York.
