I thought that this was discussed a while back on ATS. Besides, If people pay attention to the Simpsons, Krusty defines 'bender' in "The Last Temptation of Krust". Not to nitpick or anything...

Incidentally, it's other meaning is already causing giggles in the UK; I have told many people about Futurama, mentioning that one of the characters is a robot called 'Bender' to which the reply is always laughter. A bender is basically a homosexual. I don't know if this has the same meaning in the States (I can only assume not).

Anyway, this makes the sound clip I have heard (which I assume to be Bender) all the more amusing: "I don't want people to think we're robosexuals"

It's kind of funny... when I went to the UK, I didn't know all of the slang terms, and a couple of people in my host family were talking about someone they knew as being "Bent". I asked them what that meant, and they said gay... I couldn't quite figure that out, until they said "You know.. Straight.. Bent.." It really makes sense, when you think about it.

Then Red Dwarf had the whole "Bent Bob" thing a couple of years ago. So I got that.
