Do you see commercials for a following Simpsons episode on your tape of "Space Pilot 2000"? Most likely, the episode is "Maximum Homerdrive (AABF13)", which also premeried on March 28th. You can confirm this at www.snpp.com, if you wish. The odds that this is a hoax as well are extremely low, because if you'll look at the p-codes (which cannot be a hoax, since the codes are shown during the end-credits of every single episode) you'll see that the following episode was "Simpsons Bible Stories (AABF14)", which was OBVIOUSLY aired on April 4th, because it was Easter. If you don't beleive they were shown in order, you can refer to snpp.com again, or if you have Simpsons tapes, you can check to see which episodes are advertised at the end of which. In the fourth Futurama episode, Kif told Zapp Brannigan that the date was April 13th, which was interesting, because that was the date of the actual episode's airing (1001 years earlier ... ). If you'll look at the dates, you'll see they match up quite well:
March 28 -- 1st episode April 4 -- 2nd episode
After this, the show was moved immediately to Tuesdays, and the third episode followed two days later.
April 6 -- 3rd episode April 13 -- 4th episode
An interesting side-note: the fifth episode, which involved massive human-killing, aired on the same day as the Columbine massacre. If you taped it, you probably will see commercials with footage from it, promising more during the night's news.
Since Futurama was not pre-empted during its first season, you can follow these dates right up to the season finale, May 18th, which was the same day as The Simpsons' season finale, as you can confirm with www.snpp.com, again.
Also, here is a copy of a Foxworld TV schedule from March 28 - April 3, 1999: <http://home.earthlink.net/~jedraw/giveitup.html>. Fox would NOT allow another network in another country to air the SERIES PREMEIRE ahead of them. I think that might be the main issue here, and I must maintain that to think anything else is utterly wrong.
If you are still not convinced, I might have to personally mail you dozens of magazine articles which refer to its WORLD premeire on the 28th. Or the fact that not a single a.t.f. poster during March of 1999 referred to an advance airing in Canada. Too bad deja.com is gone.
