The gang of children is from the Star Trek:TOS episode "Miri" about an earthlike planet where all the adults have been wiped out by a virulent disease leaving only a gang of unruly children who plan to kidnap the landing party. If this sounds silly it gets even worse. The brats taunt the landing party by chanting "nyeh nyeh nyeh" ad nauseum.
