Space Pilot 3000 and parallels to "The Time Machine"

Dunno if this has already been remarked since Space Pilot 3000 isn�t the newest episode ... So bear with me.

I just finished reading the "Time Machine" and the descrption of time travel bears lots of similarities with the "fast forward sequence" when Fry is hibernating 1000 years. It�s a rather longish passage so I am not goint to copy it :(.

I�ll simply offer two details

- the cycle of sun and moon (in the TM the sun become � blurry belt followed by the darker belt of the moon - buildings are rising and falling in the background

Coincidence? A normal topos for "time travel" ? I guess it would be really fitting for Futurama to include som� Time Machine references in its pilot.
