Spirited Away.
It's got a great plot, an amazing soundtrack, it's easily my pick for movie of the year.
I personally think that everyone here should see it.

You can link from Miyazaki Hayao (director of "Spirited Away") to Frank Zappa in 4 steps.
Miyazaki Hayao -> Hisaishi Joe (who composed the soundtrack of "Spirited Away") -> Bill Bruford (who played drums on one of Hisaishi's solo albums) -> Adrian Belew -> FZ
Another trivial point: Miyazaki was born on Jan. 5, 1941 - only 15 days after FZ was born.
Although "Spirited Away" is enjoyable, I think it can't exceed Miyazaki's early works by any means. (IMHO, the oscar for "SA" is as late as Jackie Chan's box office success in the U.S. - it's unfortunate that most of the American audience missed the most fruitful years of Miyazaki and Chan.)

Although I don't see what it has to do with Futurama (or any of the other groups it was crossposted to), I agree. Although, as far as the acadamy awards, it was up last year, since it's original run was last fall. They just put it back in US theaters this spring since it won for Best Animated Feature. If you really like it, be sure you see Hayao Miyazaki's other films. Princess Mononoke was just dubbed a few years back, and those two are probably the easiest to find, since Disney picked up the rights to both, so the releases were pretty wide. Nausicaa, My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky, and Kiki's Delivery Service are also great.

All you have to say is "Miyazaki", and that is enough of a reason for a movie being great. The only one that isn't as great as My Neighbor Totoro, but it is an adorable movie. I still think Princess Mononoke is his best, followed by Kiki's Delivery Service and Castle In The Sky. Spirited Away is still very good though.
Try to find some of Miyazaki's lesser known works, like his animated version of the Bible. It puts all American adaptations of the Bible to shame..

Unfortunately, Miyazaki's "dark side" has never come to the surface of his films. However, being far different from his own adaptation for the screen, the comic strip version of "Nausicaa" is filled with bloody slaughters and pessimism for civilazation and - arguably - ecology.
Trivia #1: Ikebe Shin'ichiro, who composed the soundtrack of "Kagemusha", also provided music for "Mirai Shonen Conan", Miyazaki's first major work as a director.
Trivia #2: About ten years ago, Miyazaki's interview with Kurosawa was aired in Japan and its transcription was later published. In that interview, Kurosawa said that "My Neighborhood Totoro" was his favorite Miyazaki film.

I think overall I enjoyed Spirited Away more than Princess Mononoke, despite the latters more impressive visuals and grander scale, it dragged on a little too long; Spirited Away had better pacing.
