It's alot more of a jump from Count to Archduke than Captain to Admiral is. But then, Crunch did have that demotion on his record.

Now if it is to full admiral, it is actually four ranks above captain. The rank order is:

Captain Commodore (now rear admiral lower grade) Rear admiral (upper grade) Vice admiral Admiral

I'm sort of fuzzy on the ranking order of royalty, though. What is it?

"Commodore" is only used in wartime, IIRC. It's actually more of a title than a rank, in the same way the "captain" of a ship can even be a lowly Ensign.

The english go like this: Baron, Viscount, Earl, Marquess, Duke. I suspect Archduke is somewhat like a 5 Star Admiral, over and above the normal ranking system as an honorific. Might not be applicable, since Chocula was romanian.
