It said in the first episode that Prof. Farnsworth had a previous crew before Fry, Leela, and Bender joined up. Any ideas of who they were? I've always thought the former crew was Amy, Hermes, and Zoidberg. Then once Fry and company joined, Amy became an intern, Hermes, a beauract, and Zoidberg a doctor.
Who were the former P.E. crew?

It's common belief among some PEELers that the as-yet unaired episode The Sting might at least contain a mention of the old crew. In this case, it is space bees, rather than a space wasp, but you never know...

Well I know one: Captain Musky or Muscy. It was given in "A clone of my own" when Bender introduced him as the most alive friend of Prof Farnsworth. He was dead, but it looked like he wasn't eaten by a space wasp, because his body looked "good".

I think it's been strongly implied that the Professor has been through several crews; the one eaten the space wasp was just the last one before Fry and company came along. Murky/Musky (I don't remember his name either) might or might not have been part of this crew.

I don't think cpt. musky was dead. It's a reference to 2001:a space oddesy, i think, (and im sure that most people already figured that out), but without having seen the movie, i wouldn't know whether the person (in the movie) in the big cart-thing was meant to be alive or dead.
mind you, looking at him, he may have been partially digested by the space-wasp. But, again, the guy in the movie probably looked like that. it's just meaningless, really, just an excuse to refer to 2001:ASO
