Favorite characters

What's everyone's favorite and least favorite characters from Futurama? My favorites are: Fry, Leela, Amy, and Hermes. My least favorites are: Zapp Branagin, Kiff, and Bender (though Bender can be funny sometimes). Anybody else?

Favorite: Leela. I dono why. But when I think Futurama that's always the first character to come to mind.

Least Favorite: Scruffy. I know Scruffy's up to no good.

I tend to think of it in terms of least favorite charcters. These would be Nibbler, the Jar Jar Binks of Futurama, and the Professor's clone(sorry, the name is not coming to me right now.)

However, Bender is infintely cool.

I can't imagine where you got this Jar Jar Binks comparison. Nibbler is too minor a character to be that much of an irritant. It's like saying your least favorite Simpsons character is Santa's Little Helper.

I personally like all the characters sans Hermes, who I loathe. His only contributions are lame beurocracy jokes. I think the satire is misplaced in that he enjoys his beurocratic duties, when really they should be crushing his soul. Jokes about limbo-ing and jerky aren't particularly funny either. In fact, there's nothing funny about Jamaica in general. Didn't they ever see "Cool Runnings"? Hermes is cool. All his one liners....Great Lion of Zion, etc...I mean, what does Amy ever do? Does she actually for for PE? If so, what his her job title? I have several ideas, but I won't mention them here..

Hermes is the counterpoint. It's the contrast between his competence and beurocratic discipline and the total idiocy of the crew that provides the humor. Sort of like a straight man who sets up the comedian.

Of course it "should" crush his soul, but the humor is that he embraces it. I love the way he blames things on Zoidberg.

Just a trivial point, it's not jerky, it's jerk / jerked. It is a Jamaican cooking style. "Jerked beef, jerked chicken, is there any meat he can't jerk?" (not quite a quote). You can make it at home using bottled "jerk sauce".

Jamaica can be very funny, remember "The Rasta Gourmet" from "fridays"?

I saw parts of it, the true story was funnier.

Silence!! I agree. I thought Qbert or Cubert or whatever was annoying with out adding much to the humor of the episode. I thought the episode was funny despite him, mostly because of The Matrix references.

Of course he blames everything on Zoidberg! Bigotry is the foundation for the humor on this show. Everyone blames everything on anyone who is different:

"Way to overact, Zoidberg!"

"Come on, Zoidberg! I passed it right to you!!"

I've been surrounded by Jamaican co-workers for years. They don't know how funny they are. The absolutely nicest people on earth, but so innocently funny ("Great lion of Zion!!!").

Neither one was funny. Same annoying teenage brat voice, same annoying teenage brat attitude. I'm still picking up the crap I threw at the tv both times.

Now, Senator Zoidberg--I mean, DOCTOR Zoidberg--I mean, JOE LIEBERMAN--that's funny!

Oh right. I forgot about minor characters. I forget his name, but the token alien newscaster is always good for a laugh. And the crippled robot boy is cute. And what of Mom? And her sons?? Damn you people! Oh yeah, and say what you will about Amy, she's hot. I was like..jealous of Fry when he was attached to her shoulder. And for those of you who think it's silly to lust after a cartoon character, I suggest you visit a little country called Japan.

I hate Kiff and I also disliked Qbert. Why are there so many people who say they like Kiff. All he ever does is sigh "Ugh". Which is also my reaction everytime I watch a scene that he is in. Qbert was just irritating. Amy doesn't really contribute too much other than the occasional "Spluh" or "Buh", which is also my reaction evertime I watch a scene that she is in. Favorite characters : Fry, Professor, Zoidberg, Leela and Bender.

I have to join the army of people who don't really have any LEAST favorite characters... Almost every character, incidental to the top-billed star, I've enjoyed thoroughly.

Personal Faves: Kif - I love the visual humor and the way his character can relate an entire paragraph of dialog in one, "ugh.." Zap Brannigan - Cuz he's so damned dense. And it's always nice to see someone so full of himself get what he deserves (albiet, eventually). Fry - One line of dialog sums up Fry to me... Fry: "This is gonna be so cool! We're gonna be like 'A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A! PHOOOOOSH!" And they're gonna be like "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!" And then we'll have pancakes to celebrate, and I'll be like, "Gromph grumph oomph mmmmmmm". Zap: "Exactly". That exchange kills me every time I think about it. Leela - She acts the way I want to most of the time (Dealing with idiots by whompin em). She's definitely in my list of faves... there are more, of course, but that's it for now...
