Were the film to come to pass, and it were live-action, who'd get the jobs? Discuss. :)
Rumored Futurama movie - live-action or animated?

God- if it's a live action it'll stink! They can never transfer animation/games into live action.

Remember that ad on SNL where Cheri Oteri and someone else used the Jamaican shampoo and a naked black man rose out of their tub magically, picked them up, and then started running down a (bluescreened) beach and then at the end he said "COME...BAVE VIF ME !" ? That guy ruled. And he'd make a good Hermes I suppose.
Bruce Campbell already has the Curly/Shemp moves down.

That was Tracy Morgan. I agree. He would be a good Hermes if they let him make a lot of jokes about weed.
Of course, this is just a academic exercise since there is no movie.

Fox NFL Wrapup Fox is going to be smart enough to realize that on NFL doubleheader days, there's a very large risk of the game eating into a large chunk of the 7:30 time slot, so they're going to move the start of the 4:15 games to 4:30 and have a long post-game show until 8:00. (The only reason I can think of that they don't do that now: they would have to get CBS to do the same thing, and I don't think CBS wants to pre-empt "60 Minutes", or whatever they show Sunday nights at 8:00, eight times a year in the fall.)
Joe Is He Or Isn't He 30 women are sent to a mansion somewhere with some guy who lets the women think he's a millionaire...and on the last episode, he tells the last woman that he really IS rich, but everybody watching the show has been told by Fox that he only makes $20,000 a year, and all of the "King Of The Hill-watching, Futurama-hating couch potatoes" fell for it.
Oh, wait, are they already doing that one?

But, surprise! He's actually homeless and wants a relationship so he can get more food stamps to trade for crack.
Fox: give us 30 minutes and we'll give you 22 minutes back.

That's reminds me of Laura Kightlinger's line: All the women in my family married for money, but not a lot of money... It's the saddest cabal for World Dominiation you ever saw.
I'm surprised that they didn't elaborate on the fact that "Joe" was a bulldozer operator. Union scale 'dozer operators in Chicago make more money than some Fox TV execs. They could have had him sit in a darkened room, and talk about his job for four hours, and it would have been a lot more entertaining.
This is a myth. While they're decently-paid, it's not outrageous. <http://www.state.il.us/agency/idol/CM/EVENMO/COOK9999.htm>. That's what, $32.55/hour? That comes out to $52k or so a year. That's good working-class money, but considering that cost of living in Chicago is 50% higher than the national average, it's not much to, say, raise a family on. Sure, some TV execs at some *local stations* might not make that much, but I guarantee it's at least an order of magnitude less than what the guys making the programming decisions take home.

Not too bad compared to what you'd get paid in a "right to work for minimum wage" state like Arizona. If you get $15-20 you're doing great. Plus you have the right to get fired for no reason, so count on losing your job a week before you get insurance. Unless there is a discrimination issue, you have no right to sue for wrongful dismissal. Don't for get the right to not sue your employer if you are injured, no matter how negligent they are. Workman's comp and no more.
The cost of living in AZ is relatively low. But, I'd rather pay a bit more for some things and get competent work done, job security, worker's rights etc.

$32.55/hour might work out to 52K a year if you work full time. Most construction jobs don't last a full year.

On the other hand, a full-time job + overtime can double that. My scale was less than $50,000 a year until last year, and some of my colleagues have made $100,000 a year (not construction).
My point, which was, I guess, rather too subtle, was that they could let him talk about, say, fishing, and it would be thousands of times more interesting than the show they're airing. ;-)
I've wondered if FOX was hiring ringers to be very bad singers on that show, so we could all enjoy more cruelty from that one judge.
I've also seriously wondered if they were going to do that -- just think about it. All they'd have to do is wait for a new California lottery winner and requit him for the show. Then no matter what happens we get a double-punchline to the show.

They don't need to. I can almost guarantee that a number of the really bad singers aren't really that bad, but they know that it's a sure way to say "hey, I was on TV". (I wonder if any of them thought that either (a) "If I'm REALLY bad, maybe I can get on some talk show", or (b) they can use it in some audition tape and say, "See how well I can act?", only to realize that even the losers pretty much have their "professional entertainment" lives dictated by the producers, according to the release they had to sign.)

If animated they've got a good chance of popping up in the Simpsons, South Park, rotoscoped into Aardman Animation stuff and crossing over into any other world.
Did anyone find out in the UK if the Futurama series were suspended after September 11th due to the opening sequence ?
I never got a proper reply from Channel 4 who were airing it at the time.

I wouldn't mind seeing Katey Segal as Leela - whats the matter with her? She's got the body for it, and so what if she's older than Fry? We don't know Leela's age anyway - but Leela seems to be emotionally and physically 15-20 years older anyway.
Jonah
Really? I always pictured her as in her late 20s. Fry is early-to-mid 20s, while Amy might still be technically a teenager. Of course, Bender is over 1000 years old.

Actually, Fry is 25. In one episode Bender said he was 5 years old.
"Legion1979" wrote in message news:[email]...
20s,
mid-twenties, I was right. Amy's a grad student I think, so I'm re-estimating her age to around 23.
And Bender's head sat for over 1000 years in the New Mexico desert in "Roswell that Ends Well."
-Jay
Do it in animation only!!! It's the only effective way to make up for the fewer than 100 episodes of the series. Do it while Katey Segal, Billy West, etc. can still supply the voices.
