Hi, First time on a newsgroup ever, so hope this works :) Anyway, I love Futurama. I just watched episode 6 with audio commentary and they said something about a Futurama newsgroup. Is this the newsgroup they were talking about? Do they actually read this stuff? Or even post here? Well anyway love the show and can't wait for season 2 on dvd :) Later!

I think it kind of would. I dislike when a creators work gets futzed around with. To the point that I only like to buy movies that are letterboxed. And I prefer the older Iron Chief episodes where none of Kaga is dubbed.
For Iron Chef, the point is probably moot, but for most things, I prefer subtitles to dubbing because voice is an important part of acting, and you can't just replace that and have the same film.

For asian languages you just need to watch the peoples faces while they speak to get when inflections have meaning. That and spending way to much time at the Sushi bar makes you more observant of emotion in asian languages.

Plus what really made me buy it was the fact that it will probably never come out in the US due to Fox "cancelling" (oops... I mean not ordering any more episodes after the fifth season) it, thus thwarting hopes of syndication and thus no DVD for the US.
Can't wait for season 2 on Sept 30th!
ALSO, if there was a ton of demand for the UK DVD, wouldn't Fox see that they could be making more money if they released it in the US and thus release it here?
I'm not getting screwed at all! I paid cash for the DVD set and now I can watch it (with commentaries) whenever I want! How am I being screwed?

But if you already bought a region 2 version of it you wouldn't buy the region 1 so then they may not bother with a season 2 in the US due to bad numbers.
You are being hosed. You paying extra cash to FOX to watch stuff they should rightly be selling directly to you as an american consumer. And instead of going to FOX and demanding Futurama in Region 1 you gave them your money anyways. Rewarding their mindlessness.
