  episode on Fox unless they decide to show new episodes in the
  summer (it wouldn't be the first time; they ran quite a few new
  episodes of "Beverly Hills 90210" one summer in the 1990s) or - and
  I wouldn't put this past Fox - they save the remaining episodes as
  a midseason replacement for next season (so they'd show them, say,
  next March and April)

4/20 - PRE-EMPTED for a preview of "X-Men 2"

FUTURAMA SEASON 2 DVDs IN NORTH AMERICA According to The Digital Bits, there is a report that the Futurama Season 2 DVD set will be released in North America on September 2. Still no date for The Simpsons Season 3 - I wonder if Mike Reiss knew what he was talking about when he said (in Davis, CA a few months ago) that it wouldn't be released until December?

FOOTBALL AND WHATEVER - SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2003 I thought I had done the last of these, but with rumors of Fox airing the remaining new Futurama episodes in the summer, there's a chance that the show will still be on in September. If it is, here's the list of cities that may be affected:

        onto a five-run lead in the seventh, now we're never going to
        hear the end of that Rally Monkey); usually, Fox shows the
        pervious year's Simpsons Halloween Special in the Futurama
        time slot if there's no Game 7

If you're not familiar with "the list": On "Fox NFL Doubleheader" days, all cities in the Eastern and Central time zone get football until at least 7:30 (the second games of the doubleheader start at 4:15 Eastern, so there is no way they will end in time to air a show at 7:00 (especially as Fox switches from a finished game to one still in progress until they are all finished), and Fox just shows a post-game show until 7:30. (Usually, about twice a year, games run so long that the 7:30 show is pre-empted as well; a Thanksgiving episode of "King of the Hill" was delayed an entire year because of this.) On the other days, if your city isn't listed and it's in the Eastern or Central time zones, it's up to the local station to decide whether to show an early game (in which case Futurama will be on in its entirety) or a late game (in which case Futurama will be on "in progress"). If you're in the Mountain or Pacific time zones, Futurama will be on each Sunday in September (even when there's no episode in the Eastern or Central time zones). On days where there is no episode in the east, Fox used to show a first-season or second-season episode, but since they sold the rights to those episodes to Comedy Central, they may show repeats of current-season episodes instead. (If a game runs so long that Fox has football coverage until 5:00 Pacific, then any new episode of whatever their 7:30 show is would be replaced by a repeat.)

I seriously doubt that any unaired episodes wouldn't be sold to Cartoon Network (which would then run "Never-before-seen Futurama episodes!" commercials) along with the rest of the last season, uness Fox thinks it can save the remaining episodes in case one of its fall shows falls flat on its face (but then, why wouldn't Fox air, say, "Oilver Beene" or "Malcolom in the Middle" (or even "King of the Hill") repeats, especially as they're convinced they would get better ratings than new Futurama episodes?)

(If you're talking about making new episodes, however, don't count on it; not many cable networks have the money it would take to make a quality animated series.)

They have never shown an "in-progress" episode. Instead, they offer a hick-post game show
