Family Guy Review

I dont know where the heck this thing is going! Lots of good jokes, funny TV references (the FOX parody was really funny!) Not a good story plot though. I dought it will continuing being as good though, i dont give the series that long.

Or not so funny TV references. You'd think nobody involved with the show had ever seen "The Critic" before. Animated TV/movie parodies are fine when they occur in context, like in a cartoon about a film critic, but they simply outweighed the storylines and kept "The Family Guy" from being as good as it could have been. I was sorely disappointed.

And the "evil genius baby" bit was old before the first episode ended. I can see this will not be "must see TV" in my house.

Neither do I, from a creative perspective, but it airs after the
Simpsons so enough people will watch it to give it good enough ratings
to allow it to stay on the air.  Sigh.

I'll take your "sorely disappointed" and raise you "a waste of a half hour" :-)

I can't believe how much of a rip-off of The Simpsons, The Critic and Dilbert this show was- Almost every comic blurb and concept was recycled from those aforementioned shows. The only problem here is that they stuffed jokes from like 3 seasons of those shows into one episode of Family Guy- they are running through the material fast that by my estimates in about 3 shows they will be out of ripped off jokes and will have to come up with their own material... But before that happens: take family guy for what it is: hundreds of bits and pieces from other shows slapped into one episode.

The Simpsons got off to a rocky start too when it first started, but at least they had some originality on their side.

I wouldn't say waste of half an hour. All the Shatner stuff made up for it. And the Fox shows were damned hilarious.

I love Family Guy too, but the thing that bothers me the most is that it seams to get most of it's elements, or steals, wink wink, from other shows. The family just seams to be a Simpsons clone right down to dad's Homer white shirt and Stewie the baby reminds me of the Brain from Pinky and the Brain every time he opens his mouth. But I still think it's hilarious none the less.
