Ok after yet another pointless over schedule football game that Totally pre-empts futurama all the way to Exactly 7:30. But worst of all they end it with some homoerotic shot of some umpire showing off his muscles or some damn thing. Well I guess I've lost all hope until after the Schmuck Bowl in Jan. If Futurama stays on the air that long.

It was perfectly on time where I live...

Sadly, you are correct. It would require a huge market in the west to overcome a zero share in the EST zone. If the east coast missed it by less than one hour, it should have been on in the other three time zones. But missing Atlanta (the Delta hub) and Atlantic city is a real blow.

I don't know if I have any basis for this, but because it's created by Groening, something tells me FOX won't cancel it right away...after all he is doing the Simpsons, which seems to be one of the only shows they haven't canceled yet..

American High is a low budget reality show. Futurama is a big budget animated show. Fox cannot afford to spend that kind of money on a show it won't air. It's just not good business.

Wasn't "Harsh Realm" a Fox show too? I don't think that one was cheap or low budget at all but it got canceled rather soon. (I could be wrong, I'm not from the US, so I don't really know much about all the stations and programs you have over there)

The difference is Harsh Realm was a new series, Futurama has been on for awhile. Syndication is the payoff on a series and it needs to reach the 100 episode mark to make syndication. After three seasons, Futurama is more than half way there, making the investment in the series deeper. It makes good business sense that Fox would take it to this mark so that they can make their money back.

Apparently, it'll be coming to Channel 4 some time this year. I have a feeling it might be comparatively soon, since Family Guy jstarted a few weeks ago (can be funny, but nowhere nearly as good as Groening-sanctioned creations).

I'm sure you'll hear about it when Futurama starts... :)

Actually, earlier this summer I saw two Futurama episodes on a conventional television - in Belgium. One was dubbed into an incomprehensible dead language (the voices are all wrong - Bender just sounds bored instead of evil) and the other had Flemish subtitles. Weird. :)

Crazy gibberish!!

I knew this was gonna happen - Futurama got totally eliminated by Football, and chances are that this won't be the last time. I really hope that either (A) Fox decides to show the entire Sunday lineup after the football game ends, (B) Fox gives Futurama a better time slot, or (C) the football players start moving a lot faster! Why oh why must Fox bury its best show under football? Oh well, maybe they'll realise that the show will never get to air on Sundays and finally move it to where it can flourish.
